Congratulations with your pregnancy!
How exciting is it to feel a new life grow inside you? Maybe you already feel the baby moving? With every day the anticipation  grows, what will he or she look like? And a lot more questions will grow as time progresses.

In addition to those questions, there is a lot more ground to be covered in the next few months. You will have to think about where you want to give birth, at home or in the hospital? Have you already found an obstetrician of maybe you want a doula? Do you want to make a birth plan? What about maternity care? And maybe you should already start thinking about registering the little one at daycare centers in the area …

Pfff, before you know it, your agenda is packed!

And then suddenly, the contractions begin … and (hopefully) you’ll call me!

How much do you charge for a birth session?
Well, for starters, I will be on call as soon as you are 38 weeks pregnant, 24/7. This could potentially last until week 42. As soon as I receive the call to come to the birth, I will stay with you until the baby is there. I will join you as soon as you have 4-5 centimeters dilation. After the baby is born, I will stay for an extra 1,5-2 hours to cover your first moments together. The weighing and checking will be documented and also the first time breastfeeding your baby. There is no limit to the amount of hours that you are having contractions or pushing. I will be there for the whole proces.

After all this I go home an start to edit and select the pictures. Withi 24 hours you’ll have a first impression and within two weeks you will have all the pictures digitally in high resolution. Both in black and white and in color. If yoy coose to have an album, this will be delivered to you within a few weeks after the gallery is live. Having said all this, you can probably imagine that a birth session doesn’t come cheap.

I understand that it is really a big thing to invite a stranger to one of the most intimate moments of your life. It is very important that you feel comfortable having me around. This is why I always have a pre-birth consultation with both you and your partner (during labor I will be communicating with him most of the time anyways). We’ll talk through your birth plan and you let me know what you would like and what not to be photographed on the big day! You can ask me any question you want. The goal is that in the end you can look back on a very special moment in your life and you have the pictures to help bring back the happy memories. So, when can we have a coffee? (PS tea is also an option ?)

You’ve decided that I am your birth photographer, how to proceed?
First of all we put everything in writing. We start by setting our agreements. We both do not want wrong expectations to be created and you shouldn’t have to wonder during active labor what it was again that we agreed upon. I am on call 24/7 from your 38th week up to and including the birth of your little one.

Do you feel that the contractions are starting? Keep me informed. As soon as you start heading for the hospital or you’ve asked the midwife to come over, let me know what your dilation is. As soon as it is around 4-5 centimeters, I will jump in my car and come your way. I will capture all the beautiful and initmate moments of you and you partner as you both are actively waiting for your little one to arrive.

If you want me to, I will also take pictures of the actual birth. This is entirely up to you. Besides these moments, I will also photograph the cutting of the cord, the weighing and measuring of the baby and everything else that happens during the process of giving birth. It is all about encaspulating the relief, the love and all of the pure and raw emotions. The first time you lay eyes on your brand new bundle of joy… the look, the emotions… pricesless!
